At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

STRANGE CREATURE IN HAMPSHIRE

Chilworth, Hampshire, 2007. - A strange creature was reported in this English county in the Fairy Census, prepared by Simon Young.  Two people walking on a path were astonished to see what looked like a tree zooming in their direction over the fields.  There were fields on each side of the path and it shot across it onto the field on the other side.  Most astonishing of all, there was a face in the bark.  It was a genial, smiling face.

Both witnesses saw this extraordinary creature.  It obviously fits into no known classification.

Incidentally, Part 1 of the Fairy Census is now available in book form as well as online.
