Around about the year 2006 a teenager claimed he saw a Gnome in Sydney, Australia. It was fairly typical, with a white beard and a pointed red hat. It was seen a number of times from a living room window and it was not stationary i.e. it was not a garden gnome. It was seen a number of times, the 2006 being the final sighting.
An interesting creature reported from Canada. It has the form of a white horse, seen from time to time. The story behind it is that it was acquired by a Cree in Mexico. He brought it back to Canada. He wished to marry the daughter of a chief of the Assiniboine, who was quite willing to exchange her for the horse. He wed the girl but an angry Sioux, who had had similar ambitions, killed them both, but he could never catch the horse. Even today, sightings of the horse are reported after nightfall on the White Horse Plains of Manitoba.
The Yara is a mermaid said to be found off the coast of Brazil and Colombia. She is thought of as a typical mermaid, to be found sitting on a rock, combing her hair and singing a song. She can have the destructive side. However, it is also said that she becomes enamoured of men.
