At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

CRYPTID NOTELETS

I hope to make this a regular feature in which I put in short pieces about obscure cryptids that it might be argued do not merit an article.

Strange Little People

Let us take you back to 1896 when a 16-year old boy (name unsupplied) heard strange music which led him to a bunch of Little People.  He had followed the sound of a  kind of music they were making.  He saw beings 3.5-4' tall.  They seem to have been humanoid, but had unusually large heads.  They surveyed the plants and insects round about, not showing interest.  When the teenager approached, they may have been at first hesitant, but then came forward and felt his clothes and face.  No further information  is provided, except to say the episode took place near Loganville (Georgia).

A cryptid elephant

A dwarf elephant called  a Kellana is said by tribesmen to be found in the Indian state of Kerala.  Its home appears to be the Peppara Agastvarrcodum Forest.  It is claimed some photographs have been taken,
