1974: Two friends on a sleepover at one girl's house in
Fayette County, Illinois, rise at 5:00 a.m. and see "a huge black thing squatting down looking for
something in the snow" outside the bedroom window, roughly three feet from
the house. As it rose, the biped appeared to be some eight feet tall, compared
in size to the girls' window, which was three feet above ground. Reporting it
to the GCBRO website 31 years later, one girl wrote: "My monster was
covered in short black hair everywhere but the face, and its eyes were red."
It fled when she cried out for help, rousing her brother. They went outside but
found no tracks or other evidence in the drifting snow.
