1891: Washington State's Colfax Commoner newspaper
reports that a seven-foot-tall Sasquatch recently killed a bulldog owned by
witnesses George Frost and W. W. Vivian, residing near the Tittabawassee River
in Michigan's Lower Peninsula. John Green repeats the story in his book Sasquatch:
The Apes Among Us. Other researchers cast doubt on reports published only
in newspapers far from the alleged scene of events.
