On This Day in Weird, May 15...
1977: Canadian bus driver and reserve Vancouver
city police officer Pat Lindquist, with six of his bus passengers, reports
seeing a 7-foot-tall, 300-pound Sasquatch a mile east of Lake Erroch on the
Harrison Hot Springs-to-Vancouver run. Ten days later, four individuals confess
on radio to perpetrating the hoax, using a gorilla suit purchased for $200. The
"actor" in the suit measured 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighed only
165 pounds.
