At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

FISH OF COLOR

Glo-Fish
Many people do not know how far genetic engineering has gone.  An example is the Glo-Fish, now readily available in the United States, except for California, where they are prohibited.  It was engineered in 1999 when green fluorescent protein from a jellyfish was injected into a zebra-fish embryo.  This made it part of the genome of the recipient fish.  They were first marketed in the USA in 2003.  Glo-fish are able to reproduce.

Glo-Fish are prohibited in Canada and the European Union.

We can but wonder where future genetic experimentation will lead us - Glo-Humans, perhaps?  One wonders also if some of the mystery animals reported in cryptozoology might not be genetically engineered and released either by accident or intentionally.
