At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

LLANABER MONSTER

This is one from the past.  LLanaber is in Wales.  If you don't know how to pronounce LL in the Welsh language, the nearest approximation I can give you is hyl and even this is inaccurate.

This story tells of a monster seen at LLanaber by schoolgirls.  There were six witnesses, all aged 12 and the sighting occurred in 1975.  About 200 yards away they saw this creature, about 10 feet long.  It had a long neck and a long tail.  Its eyes were huge and green.  It was on the beach and it entered the sea, first giving the girls a piercing glance.  One of the girls likened it to a dinosaur.

What it was in anybody's guess.
