At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

WEIRD WEEKEND LOOMS

For those of you who will be in south-west England August 14th-17th, just let me remind you that the Weird Weekend will be at full swing.  For the second year it will be held at the Small School in Hartland, Devon.  Even now Jonathan Downes is engaged in a welter of frenzied activities making preparations.  Tickets are still available or you can just pay at the door.

You must not miss my gripping lecture on the Dobharchú and how I went on a television expedition to find it in the wild country of western Ireland, where rarely human foot treads.

Shoshannah McCarthy (pictured above) will be lecturing on feral cats.
