At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

FALLS OF FROGS

One of the hallmarks of Fortean studies has always been alleged falls of frogs or other beasties from the sky.  Do they really happen and what causes them?  To me, the answer is simple.  Like Dorothy's cottage, they are whipped up by the wind and then dropped to the earth.

One day I found my car covered in sand.  Whence had it come?  Investigation revealed that it had come from the Sahara, picked up by the wind and dropped in Ireland.  If it can be done with sand, it can be done with frogs.

For those of you who know I don't drive, you are probably wondering why I have a car.  I have an Unpaid Chauffeur in the form of my wife.  If there's one thing that bores me, it is motorized vehicular transport.
