A blog for the United States branch of the global Centre for Fortean Zoology
At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

OYSTER BAY CLOUD
This animal - for animal it appears to have been - must be in the Very Odd category of cryptids reported. In 1975 it was approached by a witness at Oyster Bay, Long Island. It looked like a cloud. It obviously resented the attention of the witness, for it shot a jet of water at him. The only alternative to its being an animal that I can think of is that it was a meteorological phenomenon. Anyway, the witness got wet. Unfortunately, I have lost my source reference for this creature. If anyone out there knows anything about it, I would like to hear.
