On This Day in Weird, March 9...
1977: Palladium Productions releases The Legend of
Bigfoot, starring (and narrated by) longtime Sasquatch hunter Ivan Marx.
Claiming to offer footage gathered during 10 years of research, the movie
features actors clad in ill-fitting costumes, complete with strange pointed
ears, lurching and cavorting through the woods. In one scene, the "shining
eyes" of Bigfoot on the far side of a lake are clearly headlights on a
car.
