At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

MARVIN THE MONSTER

Marvin's name seems to impart to him a non-threatening image, but in fact we know very little about him and cannot say if he is fierce or friendly.  The reason for this is we only have a videotape of the creature and it is unclear from this what Marvin is. 

Marvin was videotaped at 180 feet below the sea by a brace of divers in 1963.  Experts, on viewing the video, debated about what he was, but they were not all in agreement.  His body was serpentine and covered with barnacles.  Some suggested he was a form of jellyfish.

The video was filmed off the coast of Oregon and Marvin continued with his unidentified existence thereafter.  As far as I know, no sightings have been reported since.
