Although it is by no means certain that King Arthur really existed, he is supposed to have been a leader of the Ancient Britons against the invading English in the 6th Century. Various places have been identified as his grave, though one legend claims he never died but will return in the future.
A curious legend relates that he actually came to America and was buried in Pennsylvania. It says that the wounded king came to the Great Spirits Spring for its healing waters. These he drank and lived for another 20 years. Then he died and was buried in Windfall Run.
The grave was opened in 1951 and was found to be empty. It filled with water. A local politician fell in and arranged subsequently for the grave to be filled up. This was done in 1959.
