At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

DRAGONS OF ARMAGH

Armagh is a county in Ireland.  It contains a mighty prehistoric structure called Emhain Macha in Irish and Navan Fort in English.  There is a lake nearby where a treasure is said to lie buried, but you can't get your hands on it if you are not the rightful owner.  A dragon guards it and on one occasion this beast stuck its head out of the water, much to the discomfiture of a man named O'Rourke.

A dragon in another lake nearby was allegedly slain by the hero Finn mac Cumhaill, whom it swallowed, but who slit open its belly to escape.  The dragon died, whether of chagrin or its wound seems uncertain.
