This is a rather strange creature which was reported from Ireland. The Nenagh Guardian tells us that in 1898 there was in Roscommon a strange beast. It looked like a pig, but was bigger and had a shaggy red coat. It appears to have taken up residence on the farm of a man named Bennett. Two dogs were set on it, but it terrified them. They both ran for home and refused food until the next day. I have discovered nothing further about this peculiar animal.
