At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

KATY ELIZABETH ON CRYPTOZOOLOGY

Thoughts of a prominent cryptozoologist.

Here’s my take on Cryptozoology. I have been so baffled that these Bigfoot programs are still on the air and nothing different has been a hit on networks. It’s always Bigfoot. People marching through the woods, making tons of noise. I have to say that Expedition Bigfoot so far is my favorite and I do like their approach the best out of any Bigfoot program out there.
My goal personally for my research into Champ and other lake creatures around the globe is not just to prove their existence but protect them as well. It’s not like every lake in the world harbors such animals.
I wrote a law in 2018 to protect the Champ animals in NY state. Unfortunately the real “monsters” are humans. These animals are terribly misunderstood and human nature is when we don’t understand something, we feel the need to kill it. Sad. As for Lake Creature research (Dracontology) we really need to look at the BIG picture.
I have NEVER seen any Bigfoot or Lake Creature research mention the importance to protect the environment. Not just for these unclassified creatures but for the health of our planet.
Cleanup events to pick up trash in our forests, conferences to help benefit the health of planting new trees to sustain healthier forests for not just Bigfoot but other animals. I have done clean up events on Champlain to benefit healthy fish stocks and the terrible occurrence of millions of gallons of sewage flowing into Champlain every year. I truly put out the conservation aspect. We have one planet people. It’s not rocket science. I guess it’s all about greed.
