At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

WHY CERTAIN ARTICLES?

Why, some may ask, do we include articles not having to do with cryptozoology?

The Center for Fortean Zoology doesn't deal merely with cryptozoology.  It also covers Fortean Zoology i.e. unusual animal stories.  It covers certain paranormal and folklore topics, as these can impinge upon unusual zoology.  We study cryptoanthropology , the study of humanoids, exobiology, the study of extraterrestrial life forms, as both are facets of cryptozoology, and occasional cryptobotany, the study of mystery plants.  We also study ecological and climatological factors that may have an effect on biology.

Apart from that, as Editor, I harbor the right to stick in unrelated materials occasionally which I feel may interest our readers.

We are always open to suggestions regarding areas of interest you might like us to cover.  We scour the world looking for links.

If you wish to contact us, our e-mail address is cfz.blogspot.co.uk

I was going to finish with an Outrageous Joke about Jonathan Downes, but it might undermine the decorum of the blog.
