At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

SKY SERPENTS

There have been various reports over the years of snakes flying in the sky.  Thus one was observed in Devon, England, in 1792.  Described as 'twisting', it also seems to have generated light.    In 1811  a fiery serpent in the shape of a horseshoe was espied in the skies over Geneva.    In 1873 at Bonham (Texas) domething 'resmbling' a yellow-striped serpent, the lenght of a telegraph pole, was descried in the air by a farmer and others, while later in the year something similar was seen over Fort Scott, Kansas.  About the year 1857, another of these creatures was seen over Missouri.  It was said to be breathing fire and to have streaks of light along its sides.  In 1935, a flying serpent was reported from Scandinavia.  In 2003 a wayfarer in Spainin the El Elcinar de Boadilla areaclaimed to have seen what looked like a snake colored silvery white in the sky.

I can offer no explanation for these creatures.
