At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

HUMAN-BIGFOOT HYBRIDS?

We have often wondered if Bigfoot has ever hybridized with the human race.  In fact, it is been asserted that such a thing has occurred.

There is a folktale in Tennessee that tells that a woman gave birth to a Bigfoot's child.  She and her husband raised the child, but it did not respond as a human and therefore had to be trained to survive in the woods.  The curious part of the tale is that the child was absolutely hairless, not what you would expect if it had Bigfoot genes.

A writer named E. Fuchs in Anthropologist (1992) claimed he was told a Spokane Indian woman had been kidnapped by a Bigfoot and subsequently gave birth to a son.  He was named Patrick and was ugly but intelligent.  Patrick married and had five children, at least one of whom was alive when Fuchs was told the story.
