At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

ON THIS DAY IN WEIRD

On This Day in Weird, August 7...

Yes, I said 7th! Just discovered that I jumped the gun yesterday with a report for August 8, so I've hopped in the Blogger time machine to pick up a stitch for August 7.

1962: While picking huckleberries along Lemon Creek, near Nelson, British Columbia, experienced hunter and woodsman John Bringsli claims his second Bigfoot sighting of the summer. As in July, this creature allegedly has gray-blue fur and stands 7 to 9 feet tall when seen from a distance of 40 feet. Unnerved, Bringlsi sprints to his car and flees the area.
