1956: Thumbing their noses at public opinion, the
environment, and the safety of all life on Earth, Britain and the United States
flatly reject pleas from India and Yugoslavia to sop atmospheric testing of
nuclear weapons.
1960: Hollywood releases a color remake of The Lost
World, taking more liberties with the original fantasy/sci-fi novel by Sir
Arthur Conan Doyle while cutting back on the FX quality of dinosaurs on screen
and sparking fully justified charges of animal cruelty to boot.
