At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

ON THIS DAY IN WEIRD

On This Day in Weird, May 9...

2002: While walking with his father and a friend along a wooded mountain trail in King County, Washington, a boy sees imprints of "a very long, flat foot" in snow, with five toes clearly visible. At first, he thinks it is a bear trail, then decides the footprints are "a lot bigger and flatter" than a bear's. Moments later, without his father and friend, he spies "something that was walking on two feet." Although uncertain whether it was "a person that wanted to go exploring, a bear, or Bigfoot," he reports it to the GCBRO, describing the figure as about six feet tall, "hairy, and very fast."
