ON THIS DAY IN WEIRD

On This Day in Weird, May 13...

1849: A trapper identified only as "One-Eye Bascomb" claims a sighting of a "strange critter" in swampland near Eagle, (now Eagletown), in southeastern Oklahoma. British authors Colin and Janet Bord say the "critter's" general description "fits Bigfoot." The first modern report of this incident surfaced in McCurtain (OK) Sunday Gazette on July 9, 1978, in an article titled "McCurtain County Has a Manbeast."
