2003: Museum curators declare that a plesiosaur's fossilized
vertebrae, found by a retiree at Loch Ness, Scotland, earlier in the month, is
almost certainly a hoax, deliberately placed at the site by persons unknown.
Proof includes evidence that the stony artifact was "intensely drilled by
marine organisms."
