If you lived in Kingscote (Gloucestershire) in days gone by, you would sooner or later bbe visited by the Christmas Bull. This was a man wearing a bull mask, attended by a keeper. You were supposed to invite the bull into your house to bring you good luck. I suspect it was part of a fertility ritual in days agone, but it latterly had become part of the Christmas festivities. I don't know if they've kept up the custom. Perhaps some reader might let me know.
