This object looked like a ball of fire with a face in it. It was seen on Diamond Island near Hardin, Illinois, in 1885 by two boys. In 1888 it was seen again, this time by a number of people who were armed and opened fire on it. Their fusillade had no effect. The strange creature chased his assailants away.
