GIANT WORMS

In the world of crypto-gossip, reference to Giant Worms sometimes turn up.  Do these constitute a species that's a-wriggle under the soil, or are these exceptional cases?  I wonder.  Over here in Ireland, the folklorist Augusta Gregory was told of gigantic worms.  One, which attacked a woman near Clough, was nearly 8 feet long.  I shall look into reports of Giant Worms in the near future.
