In 1958 Charles Wetzel in Hall County, Nebraska, was surprised to observe a kangaroo in pursuit of some dogs. He had at first mistaken it for a deer. Phantom Kangaroos, as they are called, turn up from time to time in the United States and nobody knows where they come from. There were further reports from Jefferson and Stanton counties.
