Lake Champlain is said to harbor a famous monster. The Indians call it tatoskok. Many people think that Champlain (1567-1635), after whom the lake is named, himself saw the monster. This, however, is an error. There is no record of him ever seeing such a beastie.
However, he did see another cryptid in the lake in 1609. This was called the chaosarou. It had sharp teeth and was 5' in length. It does not seemed to have attained the fame of Champ.
