Elephants, we know, are large and noble beasts; but, when an elephant looks at us, what kind of reaction does it provoke? Recent research has shown that, when an elephant looks at us, itd brain releases a certain hormone. Now, in humans, the exact same hormone is released when we see a puppy, making us (for the most part) think it's cute cuddly and lovable. The same thing happens to the average elephant when it sees a human. It sees us in that light. Alas, with all the ivory poachers knocking about, not to mention the individuals who call themselves trophy hunters, elephants have learned that, however adorable they may think us, we are better kept at a distance. Some of them have actually developed a call which means, "Danger! Humans coming!"
