MONSTER OF LAKE BANYOLES

Lake Banyoles

Lake Banyoles in Catalunya/Catalonia is a large lake which, according to legend, harbored a monstrous Dragon.  Stories of this creature circulated from the 8th Century.  Its skin was thick and scaly and it boasted large wings, but was too heavy to fly.

However, considerable substance was added to the legend of the lake's disturbing denizen by reports of a monster in more modern times.  These came in during the 19th and early 20th Centuries.  On one occasion it was actually said to have crossed the road.  In 1913, when a boat was wrecked on the lake, gossip at once apportioned blame to the monster.

While I am not aware of any recent reports, if any readers know of any, we here at the CFZ would be happy to receive them.

FALLS OF HAY

Fortean studies have always been concerned with falls of objects from the sky.  However, this is the first time I have come on falls of hay.

That's Hay, for city dwellers who may not recognize it.
