MAN-TIGER

A curious creature or being, exhibited in England during the reign of Queen Anne (1702-1714).  From below the head it was described as manlike, from which we infer that the head was the tigrine portion.  Its hinder parts were hairy.  It would drink ale from a glass and engage in bouts with the quarterstaff.
