INDIAN OCEAN SEA SERPENT

There have been several sea serpent reports from the Indian Ocean.  One report came in in 1834 of a serpent seen to the east of Madras (modern Chennai).  It had a large mouth, a dorsal fin, a tail, a lizard-like head and its body was covered in brown spots.  There were fish, possibly dogfish, around it, with which it seemed on the friendliest of terms.  In 1979 a sea serpent was observed in the Indian Ocean from the ship Priam,  A possible sea serpent was seen off Madagascar in 1889.
