Have you heard of Spearfinger or, as the Cherokee called her, Ut'lun'ta, 'Spear pointer'? This terrifying creature was supposed to have wandered about in days agone in Tennessee and North Carolina, clad in a stony garment which rendered her impervious to arrows. One of her fingers was shaped like a spear, which she used to kill people and steal their livers, for a meal or a snack. She was a shapeshifter and could look like an old woman. She eventually met her end by falling into a trap, a pit that the Cherokee had set up for her. There the Cherokee managed to kill her, not without difficulty.
Is there any truth behind this legend? Who can tell?
