POUA-KAA

A gigantic eagle in the legends of the Maoris.  Lore about it is found among the Waihata tribe.  It is supposed to be found on Mount Torlesse, New Zealand.  It has a taste for human flesh.  It may preserve a memory of  Haast's eagle (Hieraaetus moori) a gigantic variety of eagle, supposedly extinct.
