Those Congos: Knowing which Congo is which can be difficult if you're not au fait with African history.

The Democratic Republic of Congo used to be called Zaire; before that it was just called the Congo and before that the Belgian Congo.  Its capital is Kinshasa.

The Congo is a smaller country.  It used to be called the French Congo.  Its capital is Brazzaville.
