BLACK SEA MERMAID

Musician V. Tertus was swimming in the Black Sea off Crimea.  It was nighttime, in the vicinity of Cape Aya.  He felt a jab in his back.  Turning around, he could discern nothing.  Then he felt another - or perhaps it was a kick, he couldn't be sure.  The moon was shining and he turned around once more to see the face of a young woman with larger than human eyes and long light hair.  A sort of phosphorescent light seemed to come from the woman's large eyes.  He was frightened and swam for the shore.  As he neared the shore, he received another poke in the back.  He turned again, looked at the woman and saw what seemed to be a disappointed look on her face.  He left the water and ran off screaming.

What had he seen?  Although the creature is described as a mermaid, no tail is mentioned, though neither are legs.  However, it doesn't seem to have been just an ordinary woman swimming.  This would hardly have scared Tertus so thoroughly.  The effect of its eyes was certainly unsettling.  The creature is something you can look out for next time you're on a cruise in the Black Sea.
