FISH-MAN OF THE SHOWANO

According to the legends of the Showano Indians, this was a water dweller with a face like a porpoise and two fish tails.  The Showano were enchanted by his singing voice.  When they were plagued with shortages, he led them across the water in their canoes to a land of plenty on the west bank of the Mississippi.
