AFRAID OF ITSELF

A really curious monster of Native American lore is the dzee-dzee-bonda.  This creature is said by the Abenaki to be so repulsive to behold that it frightens itself.  Presumably it stares at its reflection in water.  No, I'm afraid we haven't a picture.
