MAMELEU

This is a large serpent which dwells in the sea in the lore of Negros Island in the Philippines.  Its length is said to be 1800 feet.   It is not impossible that some huge monster lies behind this belief.  It is said to wail and to spit out green water.  The mameleu is supposed to be a cave dweller.  Its eyes are also said to be dangerous, shooting bolts of fire.  To add to all these endearing characteristics, it is said to be poisonous.
