ON THIS DAY IN WEIRD

On This Day in Weird, February 24...

2012: Federal authorities cite Matt Pruitt, leader of a BFRO expedition at the Buffalo National River in Arkansas, for "engaging in a business without a permit or written agreement." According to a brief filed by the National Park Service, 31 participants in the three-day hunt for Sasquatch paid fees ranging from $300 to $500, with the higher rate charged to "newbies"—i.e., persons who had not patronized the group previously. In March a court fines Pruitt $525 for what he calls "a fairly innocent mistake."
