1870: Hunters reportedly shot and killed an unidentified
predator known as "the man-eater" near Silver City, Idaho. Oddly, the
local Silver City Avalanche newspaper apparently did not carry the story
until March 12. Today, Silver City is a ghost town in Owyhee County, frequented
by tourists.
