MERIGOMISH SEA MONSTER

This creature was observed by Nova Scotia fishermen in 1845.  It appeared to have entered shallow water and seemingly could not return to the deep.  However, at last it managed to do so.  It was estimated at 100 feet long, with a head like a seal's and possible humps.  It was colored black.
