FOGLIONGO - ITALIAN BLOODSUCKER

The fogliongo is a creature in Italian folklore.  Belief in it is found particularly in the district of Garafagnana.  This creature is said to kill poultry and exsanguinate them.  This is something associated with the Puerto Rican chupacabra.  If there is any truth in this belief, however, the two creatures are unlikely to be related.  With accounts of exsanguinated creatures, it is sometimes difficult to discover if they were properly checked for bloodlessness.
