ON THIS DAY IN WEIRD

On This Day in Weird, August 13...

1521: Conquistador Hernán Cortés captured Cuauhtémoc, ruler of Tenochtitlán, claiming the city for Spain and marking the end of the Aztec Empire. Cortés appointed himself the new ruler and renamed Tenochtitlán Mexico City. But was that really the end of the story? In 2008, before he battled Lavalantula or got blown away by successive Sharknados, renowned Hispanic TV star Ian Ziering portrayed Cortés in Aztec Rex, also known as Tyrannosaurus Azteca, revealing the long-hidden truth about the conqueror's greatest challenge. Yep, you guessed it, a ravenous living dinosaur!
