1977: Three witnesses at the Abilene Boys' Ranch, near Hawley, Texas, claim a threatening encounter with a local Bigfoot dubbed the "Hawley Him." Teenage campers Tom Roberts and Larry Suggs allegedly suffer the attack, with one rock striking Suggs's leg. They flee to a nearby home and return with resident Renee McFarland, armed with a rifle, firing one shot at the beast before it escapes, leaving behind 12-inch footprints and a "rotten smell." Many other locals report sightings of the monster during 1977, but hunting parties fail to track it down.
