1978: After nine-year-old witness Donette Henkins reports
seeing a "short, hairy, apelike animal with fangs and deep-set eyes"
growling at her from a distance of mere inches, in Ottosen, Iowa, other
residents of that town—Jan Jenkins and two others unnamed—report the same
creature lurking between two buildings downtown. Searchers find nothing.
