ON THIS DAY IN WEIRD

On This Day in Weird, June 5...

2005: Members of an unnamed family in rural Forrest County, Mississippi—named for the "grand wizard" of the original Ku Klux Klan—allegedly experience the first in a series of Sasquatch sightings and related incidents continuing "all times of day and night" through April 6, 2006. They describe one creature as roughly seven feet tall, covered with brown hair, apparently weighing 400 to 500 pounds. Another seems to be "a very curious juvenile," four to five feet tall, weighing about 100 pounds. In addition to physical sightings, they report wood-knocking sounds, "heavy breathing," and "charges" through the forest undergrowth.
