ON THIS DAY IN WEIRD

On This Day in Weird, June 22...

1971: Greenville, Mississippi's Delta Democrat Times newspaper reports that local resident Mae Pearl Young recently saw a six-foot-tall biped covered with black hair standing outside her daughter's home at night. The paper offers no further details, omitting even the alleged sighting's exact date.

Greenville's welcome sign neglects to mention Bigfoot as a possible resident, and also omits Byron De La Beckwith, assassin of Medgar Evers in 1963, finally convicted 31 years later.
